The autocross committee of the Houston BMWCCA has decided to reformat BMW model classes into a more equitable system. The new classification system has been adapted from those in use by other BMWCCA chapters around the country. Similar systems are currently in use by the Windy City, Lone Star, New York and Boston chapters. This new classification system is based upon (1) the inherent performance characteristics of individual BMW models and (2) the modifications you have performed on your bimmer. If you are not driving a BMW simply choose the correct class from the table below.
The system assigns a combined "point" value for both your BMW model and its subsequent modifications. We have designated seven (7) final classes. If you are driving a bimmer you may use the following form to calculate your class.
Below are two sets of tables we would like you to review. The first lists all BMW models. Find the box which indicates your model BMW and click the radio button on the left. You will see a point value in the box next to your model. The second table lists types of modifications. Check the box next to each modification you have performed on your vehicle. Again, note the point value next to each modification type. Don't forget to indicate if you are running with "R" compound tires (autocross tires or race tires such as Kuhmo Victoracers or Hoosiers). 10 points will be added for "R" compound tires for cars who start in Class A. All other cars will be "bumped" to the next higher class for "R" compound tires. Also please note in the mods table if your car came with a factory sport package (E34, E36, E39, E46, Z4). After you have selected your model and checked your modifications, click the submit button. When the page is reloaded it will have your class information displayed below.
Please select your BMW model and check all modifications:
