The DLBRacing Classification Engine is made up of three parts classes, groups and
heats. Classes and groups are the only required items. Heats are optional and are
normally only employed to address very unique situations.
The first step to setting up the classification engine is to add your classes to
the system. Classes are added to the system for a particular event type for example
Autocross or Regional Club Race. You can access the page to add classes from the
Administration Menu. The Classes menu item will bring up the classes page where
you can manage your classes. See the Classes help item
for information on how to add classes.
Once the classes are added to the system you can group the classes together. Similar
to classes you can create groups for an event type. However, you can also create
event specific groups for special events that don?t use your standard groupings.
A class must be in a group or it will not be shown to the driver during registration.
You can access the page to add groups from the Administration Menu. The Groups menu
item will bring up the groups page where you can manage your groups. See the
Groups help item for information on how to add groups.
Finally there are Heats. Heats are used to control
when a particular group is to run. For example if you have 4 groups that run at
different times each event you can create four heats that define when a group runs
and create a Run Order for an event. When you define
a Run Order you are associating a Group with one or more heats. By taking this extra
step downloads can be created that contain the run heat information.
Note: If you create heats you MUST also create a Run Order
for each event. If the system detects Heats but no Run Order for an event it will
display and error to a driver attempting to register for that event stating the
Run Order had not be set.
You can access the page to create a Run Order for an event from the Administration
Menu. The Run Order menu item will bring up the Run Order page where you can manage
your Run Orders. See the Run Orders help item for information on how to add Run
Orders.
